Brawl Stars is heading back to school. Season 54, themed Royal Academy, arrives as part of Update 69 and brings the biggest shake-up to Brawler progression in years, alongside two new Mythic Brawlers, a fresh Brawl Pass, and a surprise collaboration with Duolingo. Here’s everything confirmed about the update so far.
What Is New in Brawl Stars Season 54?
Season 54 swaps the neon Windstock aesthetic for a back-to-school theme, complete with uniforms, classrooms, and academy-branded cosmetics. Beyond the visual refresh, Update 69 replaces the game’s core unlock system, adds a new 20-player mode, and folds in a Duolingo-branded event around the same time the season goes live.
Brawl Stars Season 54 Release Date and Update 69 Overview
Season 54 is scheduled to begin on September 3, 2026, right as Season 53: Windstock wraps up. Update 69 itself was revealed in the August 29, 2026 Brawl Talk and carries the subtitle “Royal Academy & Brawl-O-Ween,” since it actually spans two Brawl Pass seasons — Royal Academy in September and a Brawl-O-Ween season in October. Some pieces of the update, most notably the new unlock system, are rolling out slightly ahead of the season itself around September 1.
Brawl Stars Season 54 New Brawlers
Update 69 introduces two new Mythic Brawlers on a staggered schedule rather than dropping them both at once.
Brawl Stars Season 54 Cosmo and Vince Details
Cosmo is the first to arrive, launching with the September portion of the update. He’s the head astronomer of the Starr Park Observatory and the first member of a new “Scientist Trio.” His main attack fires three orbiting projectiles that spread out and grow larger — and hit harder — the farther they travel, rewarding players who can hold distance and time their shots. His Super, Gravity, launches a magnet that attaches to an enemy and pulls his own and his teammates’ projectiles toward that target, making it a strong pick for coordinated team compositions. His two Gadgets are Planetary Pushback (a knockback projectile) and Telescope Trap (which reveals an area and blocks enemy movement abilities for six seconds), while his Star Powers — Precession and Ammo Attractor — boost his orbit speed and reload respectively.
Vince follows a month later in October. He’s a barista working out of the insect-themed Café Criaturas as part of a “Creepsville Trio.” His gimmick revolves around caterpillars that spawn periodically around him; stepping on or shooting them turns them into moths, which he can stockpile up to a cap of 20. His main attack throws a coffee mug that deals bonus damage to enemies currently affected by his Super, while his Super unleashes his collected moth swarm, scaling in power with how many moths he’s gathered. Because he loses half his stored moths if defeated, Vince plays as a resource-management Damage Dealer who rewards patience and good positioning over aggression.
Brawl Stars Season 54 Brawler Unlock System
The bigger structural news in Update 69 has little to do with any single Brawler — it’s a full replacement of how players unlock new characters.
How the Brawl Stars Season 54 Unlock Changes Work
Starr Road, the progression track that’s guided Brawler unlocks for several seasons, is being retired in favor of a new system called Brawler Blast. Once players accumulate enough Credits, they open the Brawler Blast screen and tap to unlock a random Brawler from a given rarity tier. Every unlock carries a chance at an instant progression boost — anything from a few bonus levels to a full Power Level 11 Brawler complete with Gadget, Star Power, Gear, or Hypercharge already attached. The trade-off is less predictability than Starr Road offered, since players can no longer work toward one specific Brawler on a fixed track. As compensation for the switch, players are able to claim 1,500 free Credits from the shop during the transition period.
Brawl Stars Season 54 Brawl Pass Skins

Royal Academy leans fully into its classroom theme for the Season 54 Brawl Pass, giving the update a distinctly different visual identity from the darker Brawl-O-Ween content following it in October.
Brawl Stars Season 54 Royal Academy Skins and Rewards
The Brawl Pass is headlined by Principal Nani (with Head Teacher and Queen Nani chromas) and Head Coach Hank (with Trainer and Team Captain chromas). Additional academy-themed skins in the pass include Drum Major Najia, Academy Ollie, Academy Mandy, and Trash Goblin Darryl. Expect the broader cosmetic lineup to include school uniforms and other academy-inspired designs that fit the September setting, ahead of the shift to Brawl-O-Ween skins later in the update cycle.
Brawl Stars Season 54 New Modes and Events
Update 69 doesn’t stop at Brawlers and progression — it also adds new ways to play, plus a crossover collaboration timed around the season’s launch.
Brawl Stars Season 54 Hide & Seek, Prop Hunt, and Duolingo Event
A new Hide and Seek mode arrives with a Prop Hunt modifier, shifting the focus away from direct combat and toward positioning, environmental use, and deception to survive or track down other players. Separately, Brawl Stars is teaming up with Duolingo for a limited-time crossover: a 20-player Boss-style mode set inside “Duo’s Classroom,” where players face off against the Duolingo owl mascot. This joint community event is set to begin around September 19, 2026, and comes with free cosmetics and Chaos Drops for players on both apps.
Brawl Stars Season 54 Update 69 Gameplay Changes
Beyond new content, Update 69 touches existing Brawlers through balance changes and expanded Hypercharge support.
Brawl Stars Season 54 Hypercharges, Reworks, and Balance Changes
Two recently released Brawlers are picking up new Hypercharges this update: Nori gets a Hypercharge that adds extra effects to her Super, while Wendy receives one that strengthens the defensive shield generated by her own Super. Both changes are aimed at giving them more room to compete with the meta’s established top-tier picks. As with most seasonal updates, expect additional smaller balance passes to individual Brawlers to roll out alongside the Royal Academy launch, on top of the larger Brawler Blast overhaul.
